PhD Thesis
Snow Cover Characterization using Multi-sensor data.

Master Thesis

Change Detection of buildings using a composite similarity metric
The objective of the thesis is to perform 2D change detection using Information similarity measures and to enhance the obtained change-map using height information from DSMs contributing to 3D change Detection, thereby attaining vertical changes also. This work was carried out in Matlab, Python and XDIBIAS.

Other Projects
Automatic Forest Change Detection from Stereo Optical Imagery.
The work involves developing algorithms for automatic change detection using a pair of panchromatic images and DSMs. The development was carried out in Matlab and XDIBIAS. (Under Refinement).

Academic Projects

Topographical Mapping of the Aurobindo Ashram at Nainital, Uttarakhand:
The aim of this work was to generate a topographic map of the mentioned cam site to the accuracy within a few cm.

Besides this we did the road profiling of a road segment connecting the ashram gate to link road.

We also did the topographic mapping for the Western Labs Extension in IIT Kanpur

Handheld GPS Routing and GIS Database Generation for The Nainital Central Area
We used Leica GS-5 hand held receiver to generate a generalized map and database useful for tourists.

Change Detection using Compressive Sensing & Sparse Representation:
In this paper we adopt a feature vector representation for 2.5D (2.5 Dimensional) change detection. The spurious noise which is identified as unchanged pixels in change maps can be effective reduced by employing compressed sensing.

Atmospheric radiative transfer modelling using Monte Carlo Method.
Development and testing of a Monte Carlo model to simulate radiative transfer in the Earth's atmosphere.

Temperature Profile Retrieval using Nadir Sensor.
In the project, the measurement of the temperature profile by nadir sounding equipment is carried out ignoring clouds and other absorbers. The work consists of a non linear optimization problem.

Building Reconstruction with High Resolution SAR data of an Urban Scene.
Estimation of buildings dimensions in a TerraSAR-X scene using Geometric Models. The work was examined by a formal presentation and I was graded 2.3 for my efforts.

Mapping of TUM Vicinity area, (Department of Cartography).
It was an Excercise equivalent to a project in ArcGIS. The objective is to map and analyze the Technical University Munich area with ArcGIS.

Study of Optical Properties of aerosols and clouds
Analysis of the optical properties of clouds and aerosols based on given data for various environments using a given software program in Fortran. Task involves scattering analysis based on phase matrix, scattering and extinction coefficients

Global Mean Sea Level Analysis using Topex/Poseidon Altimetry Data.
It was completed by a team of 3 members. The project involves depiction of sea surface change from the Topex Poseidon Altimetry data and analysis based upon the visualization of El Nino Effect. Both data processing and visualization are carried out in MATLAB and responsibilities shared equally. The results from this project can be observed under the links-
